junior parkrun – Haywards Heath

This is a fun, free 2k event which you can walk, jog or run that takes place every Sunday. It is an inclusive event for 4-14 year olds but participation for all is encouraged. Equally, children and young adults who use wheelchairs are also very welcome to participate. This event is marshalled. Children under 11 need a adult with them to supervise, but the adult does not have to participate in the event.

Suitable for?

4-14 year olds – there is also a parkrun event for those older than 14. See website for details. Those under 4 years can join in (eg. walking, in a buggy) with an adult if they are also running with someone over 4 years. Those under 11 will need an adult to come and supervise them throughout the event.

Every Sunday at 9am

Location

Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 4LY. The event starts by the lamp-post near the top of the wide path heading down the western side of the park.

Free to use! But you do need to register beforehand and bring a printed barcode to get an official time.

Facilities

Toilets are located within the park. There is also a large children’s play park within Victoria Park.

Accessibility

Everyone is welcome at parkrun. Event organisers will do their upmost to include anyone who would like to participate. Children and young adults who use a wheelchair or other mobility aids are actively encouraged to join. Contact directly if you would like to discuss this further. It is good to note that some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain.

Getting There

Car: On Sundays there is free on-street parking on the roads around the park and in all Mid-Sussex District Council car parks around Haywards Heath Town Centre, including the one nearest to the park, off Haywards Road, near the Iceland Store (RH16 4HT), but please note the small, private car park immediately behind the Iceland Store is NOT free on Sundays

Bus: There is a very limited local Sunday Bus service in Haywards Heath. See the Sussex Bus Website for more details.

Train: Trains run direct to Haywards Heath Rail Station from Victoria and from Kings Cross St Pancras (via London Bridge) in the north and from Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings and Worthing in the south. Victoria Park is about 10-15 minutes’ walk southwards from Haywards Heath Rail Station

Dogs

Dogs are welcome to watch but cannot participate in the event.
